The interval from getting a confirmation of pregnancy to the delivery and the first few months after delivering a baby can be daunting for the lady and the family. Although this is a normal process in physiology, there may be complications ranging from physical and psychological to simply logistical. There are many questions to be answered and many fears to be allayed. Often the family finds itself facing situations which turn this life changing event from a moment of joy to a period of anxiety.

Our team of consultants and midwives take care of the situation from day one. Consultant obstetricians are firmly in charge of the process all the way through, but midwives are the team that form the backbone of obstetric practice at freya. Unlike general nurses. they are specially trained to take care of all aspects of pregnancy and provide hand holding support from the first consultation to the post-partum period. They are complimented by our support time of dietitians, yoga and exercise instructors and lactation consultants.

The highlight of this care at Freya is the high number of normal vaginal deliveries. Unlike almost any modern healthcare system anywhere in the world, pregnancy in most parts of India ends in a caesarean section. This is both unnecessary and dangerous. Nature has devised processes for childbirth which work quite well generally without any human intervention. There are benefits to both mother and baby in a normal childbirth. Also, caesarean section even with all modern technology at hand is a major surgery and may have significant complications. We at freya believe in making pregnancy and childbirth as natural as possible with the advantage of latest technology to keep a close eye and intervene when needed.

Sensory Labour Room
These rooms offer calming lights, restful blured picture displayed on the big screen along with the sound effect in the labour room. International Studies have soon significantly reduce risk of unnecessary caesarean section for delivery of baby. There was higher chance of a smooth normal Delivery with lesser side effect to mother. Freya Hospital has the first Sensory Labour Room of India.
